Battle for NLC Rivers State chapter chairman intensifies as Emecheta chukwu insist that Beatrice Itubo has been removed by the secretary and other top officials

The crisis rocking the leadership of the Nigerian labour congress NLC in Rivers state has taken a new dimension as Beatrice Itubo says she remains the chairperson of the union.

Beatrice Itubo who is the governorship candidate of Labour party in rivers state was allegedly removed from office as reported by RIV NEWS on 16th june, 2022. By some members of the union last week after she emerged candidate of the party
In a telephone interview with the embattled NLC chairmen Beatrice Itubo, she said a section of the NLC constitution allows her to vie for any elective positions while still in office as the chairperson of the union she accused Emecheta chukwu of forging signatures of members of her state executives that purportedly removed her from office she also denied reports that she is using the labour House for her political activities.
Meanwhile, Emecheta chukwu who claimed to be the acting chairman said Beatrice Itubo can no longer speak on behalf of workers in the state having emerged as the governorship candidate of Labour party.
Emecheta chukwu said though the constitution of NLC did not state categorically if she can be standard bearer of a political party and still hold her position as NLC chairperson, other political parties will see the union as partisan if she is allowed to keep her position.
He said members of the union followed due process before removing Beatrice Itubo from office that the secretary and other top officials of the NLC signed the communiqué for the removal of Beatrice Itubo.
