Magistrate Court in Port Harcourt has granted bail to Pastor Felix Duruebube of the Mercy House Church International, who was accused of defiling a sixteen-year-old girl.
Duruebube has been facing two charges of defilement and forcing the girl to take an oath with him. He was arraigned before Chief Magistrate Obiareri Anugbum in Port Harcourt.
He pleaded not guilty to the charges, and was granted bail, he was remanded in the Port Harcourt Correctional Centre because he was not able to fulfil the bail conditions as at Monday.
The Chairperson of FIDA Rivers State chapter, Adata Bio-Briggs, in a statement complained of pressure from religious leaders to drop the case. She urged them to desist from settling criminal matters involving pastors.
The FIDA chairperson seeing the number of church members that attended the court proceedings called on Christians to test the spirit behind their pastors.
Recall the Rivers State Police Command confirmed that Pastor Felix Duruebube accused of sexually abusing a sixteen-year-old girl is in their custody as at June 24, 2022.
