Khana LGA chairman places bounty to help arrest criminals in his domain as insecurity rises

There are indications that insecurity in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State is becoming a major social problem.

These indications followed the rising incidence of armed robbery, including motorcycle theft in Bori, and other security breaches in Okwale, Bangha, Lueku, Sogho, Lorre, and Luebe communities.

Some residents say the security situation had reversed to the level when Council Chairman, Dr. Thomas Bariere assumed office in 17th June, last year.

Some residents have however linked the security problem to the political season and the chieftaincy issues in most communities in Nyokhana, which the Chairman recently banned.

But Dr. Thomas Bariere said security agents have arrested several suspects while a known armed robber was gunned in moves to address the security crisis. He also disclosed that other suspects escaped with gunshot wounds during recent raids by security agents.

The Council boss added that they are on top of the situation, even as his administration has visited all affected communities.

He also revealed that a bounty was available for persons who can provide credible information on the whereabouts of the criminals.
