The executive Chairman of Ahoada West LGA asked NULGE to Represent the interest of their Union and his interest 

 


The Executive Chairman of Ahoada West Local Government Area Of Rivers State, Hon. (Evang) Hope O. Ikiriko, Ph.D, CNA, FNES, JP. on 30th June, 2022 charged NULGE Ahoada West Chapter to represent the interest of their Union and his interest as the Executive Chairman of Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State. 

The Chairman gave the charge during a meeting with the Council Staff, Principal Officers and the newly Elected NULGE Executives at Council Secretariat Hall Akinima. 

The Executive Chairman in his remarks charged the Umbrella body of the workers, the Ahoada West Chapter of the National Union Of Local Government Employees (NULGE) to turn a new leaf by ensuring a better working standard that will guarantee their productivity. 

While addressing the Staff, the Chairman said, "Your concern must not only be to represent your Union and the interest of the workers, but that of the Local Government also, which is paramount to me as the Chairman. You must as a matter of Public importance represent the interest of your Union and my interest as the Executive Chairman of Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State".

The Chairman warned against unhealthy Union politics by some Staff while he advised that the Civil Service politics is defined by the Labour law and the Civil service rules and regulations and its ethics. It is therefore different from other kind of unionism. 

The Chairman commended some of the staff for regularly coming to work and adhering to the new operational work standard, which according to the Chairman, has reduced unnecessary administrative stress as he charges them to maintain optimal work standard.  

Speaking further, the Chairman promised to rollout special training scheme in the areas of Computer training for staff in order to boost their productivity. He also advised those who have attained the age of retirement to do the needful rather than presenting forged documents. 

The Chairman who promised to support the staff at all times, pledged Two Million Naira (#2,000,000.00) only to Staff who were present at the meeting. 

Speaking earlier, the NULGE Chairman; Comrade Chisa Ordu informed the gathering that the purpose of the meeting was to introduce the new Executive of the Ahoada West Chapter of the National Union Of Local Government Employees (NULGE) to the Chairman and to the entire Staff of the Council. 

While speaking, Comrade Ordu commended the Executive Chairman for being workers-friendly and for his support for the welfare of the Staff and Union. 

The Head Of Local Government Administration (HLGA) Mrs. Joy Nweke also commended the Chairman for his support towards the welfare of the Staff as enjoined the Staff to always come to work. 

The Vice Chairman of NULGE; Comrade Lucky Matthew in his Vote of Thanks, appreciated the Executive Chairman and the staff for their presence in the meeting and also, on behalf of the Staff pledged their allegiance to the Council Chairman for effective and efficient services delivery.
