Some youths in Edo State Protested today at Sapele road over the deplorable Condition of the Benin - Sapele road which is one of the roads connecting Edo and other southern states.
A leaders of the protesters While addressing the youths called on the Federal Ministry of Works, Federal Road Maintenance Agency, FERMA and by extension, the Edo State Government to stop paying deaf ears to tax payers and Commuters and do the needful on the road.
Meanwhile Ramat Park, Ikpoba hill in Ikpoba Okha Local government area, Edo State was blocked for several hours following protest by drivers plying the route.
The protesters (commercial drivers) said until Edo State Government fixes the deplorable roads in the state, they would resist the directive to adhere to the colour code of their vehicles.
Rivnews gathered that the protest by commercial drivers was because of the announcement made by a task force set up by the deputy governor, Comrade Philip Shaibu when he acted as a governor and reviewed the daily ticket fee from N600 to N1800 and Sunday, N800, and also directed commercial drivers to color code their vehicles as Salon cars will pay N20, 000 for the colour code and N30, 000 for buses.
