Governor Yahaya Bello orders closure of brothels harbouring prostitutes and demolition of shanties, bans wearing of facemasks for security reasons


The has been serious security threats in Kogi state due to the high insecurity and banditry being experienced in some parts of Nigeria.

Due to the latest security reports received by the state Governor Yahaya Bello, has ordered the closure of all brothels harbouring prostitutes in the state. To also ensure proper identification of persons, the governor also banned the wearing of facemasks in public places to ensure the proper identification of persons in the state.

He also ordered demolition of shanties in Lokoja, Osara, Zango, Itobe, Obajana, and all other areas that criminal could hiding in the state.

In a meeting on Tuesday with all local Government chairmen and recognised chiefs in the state, the governor asked traditional rulers to cleans their domains while mandating some commissioners to ensure proper documentation of tricycle and motorcycle operators. 

He warned all politicians to desist from anything that could disrupt the peace being currently enjoyed in Kogi state
