High Chief Matthew Opoto Chairman of the Abissa Council of Chiefs in Akuku Toru LGA of Rivers State kidnapped by unknown gunmen

Chairman of the Abissa Council of Chiefs, a community in Akuku Toru Local Government area of Rivers state, Chief Matthew Opoto, has been kidnapped by some gunmen while onboad a boat in a River.

Chief Opoto was on his way to a meeting with members some council of chiefs, when the gun men intercepted the boat the were in.

An eye witness account said Chief Mathew Opito, was travelling with some of his chiefs and about five minutes to arrive the community, some man came in a speed boat, identified him and took him away.

The entire community members are worried and are calling on the Rivers State Governor, Barr. Nyesom Wike, the police, Army, the NNS Pathfinder in Rumuolumeni, and other security agencies to help secure his release.

Meanwhile Police public relation officer of the Rivers state command, Grace Iringe-Koko has confirmed the incident. She men of the force have swung into action to secure his release.
