Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has issued a statement dismissing claims that the state governor chief barrister Nyesom Ezebunwo Wike banned its members from campaigning for the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar in in Rivers.
Mr Tombari Gbara who is the publicity secretary of the party in Rivers said the governor never banned members and chieftains of the party from campaigning the presidential candidate of the party Atiku Abubakar.
This is coming as a result the statement credited to senator lee Maeba during his interview with PUNCH as learned by rivnews.
Lee Maeba stated that governor Wike said he is waiting to see how he will campaign for Atiku Abubakar in Rivers state that anyone who campaign for Atiku in Rivers State without his permission would be dealt with.
According to Lee Maeba that Wike issued the warning after he and some chieftains of the party visited Atiku and apologized on behalf of the governor.
“Governor Wike is not somebody that hides his feelings. If he wants to say that, I don’t think he would say it privately. So, the person making the allegation should come out and prove himself.
“He (Maeba) should be able to furnish Rivers people and Nigerians with evidence.” The party publicity secretary said.
