Rivers State House Committee On Public Complaints visit Ahoada West LGA over petition Agip Oil Company

The Rivers State House Committee On Public Complaints And Petitions in the early hours of wednesday August 17, embarked on an investigative visit to the Ushie flow station in Akala-Olu Community, Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State. 

The visit was prompted by a petition from concerned indigenes of Akala-Olu community who approached the Assembly with complaints bothering on indiscriminate effluent discharge and other unsanitary practices from the operator of the flow station, Agip Oil Company Nigeria Limited.

Members of the petition committee led by the committee's chairman and Chief Whip of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Evans Bipi were conducted round the facility and it's environs by the petitioners to ascertain the true position of things and to furnish the committee with facts that will be crucial during the committee's considerations for a ruling on the matter.

The petitioners and representatives of Agip Oil Company were briefed after the assessment, invited to appear in the next public hearing of the committee at the Rivers State House Of Assembly Complex tomorrow August, 18 for further deliberations to ensure that an amicable resolution is reached to enhance the relationship between both parties.
