The Executive Chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, Eze Engr. Samuel Nwanosike, PhD, on Saturday reaffirmed to the Executive Governor of the State, Chief Barr. Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike, that wherever he goes is where the people of Ikwerre LGA would be.

Dr. Nwanosike made the affirmation while giving his remarks during the official flag off of the construction of Omagwa internal roads by Sen. Jonah David Jang, former Governor of Plateau State.

According to him, "Ours is to thank you (Gov. Wike) and welcome you to your community and to announce to the whole world that wherever you go is where we will follow".

The Ikwerre Council Chairman, who hails form Omagwa, thanked Gov. Wike for giving him and his team the opportunity of governing their people at the grassroots level. While saying that Gov. Wike has wiped away the tears of his people by awarding contract for the construction of their internal roads which nobody could remember despite hosting an international airport.

He avowed, "Because God brought you as the leader of our people, you have wiped away the tears of the Omagwa man.

"Without you, nobody would have given us the opportunity to be voted for in our local government. But you grow the team, we are thanking you on that note.

"You are also here today to give us an internal road that we have prayed for all our lives that nobody has remembered us irrespective of the fact that 64 thousand hectares of our land is used by the Federal Government for airport aviation activities. But today, you have come clearly to say I am an Omagwa man, I am an Ikwerre man.

The Omagwa internal roads, which are to be constructed by the Rivers State Government, are 10.9 kilometres and awarded to OKMAS Nigeria Limited.

While speaking, Gov. Wike gave accolades to Dr. Nwanosike for always standing by him and ensuring that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) wins Ikwerre LGA despite having someone like Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.

The flag off ceremony was attended by dignitaries across the country.
