Details of Atiku's meeting with PDP governorship candidates

 

Atiku and PDP governorship candidates

Former voce president Atiku Abubakar the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar met with the governorship candidates of the party on the party's platform ahead of next year general election.

During the meeting, Atiku stated aim of the meeting noting that he met with the candidates to strategize on how to defeat the opposition parties in 2023.

The governorship candidates of the party in attendance at the meeting include Kaduna, Plateau, Katsina, Lagos, Niger, Kano, Sokoto, Delta, Yobe, Jigawa, Nasarawa, Kwara, Benue, Borno, Ebonyi and Zamfara states.

Atiku is trying to put the party in place ahead of the 2023 general elections, with a crisis between him and the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike who has held the party since 2015 before the primary election which Atiku won.

There is also an issue between the Rivers State Governor and the party National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu.

Iyocha Ayu allegedly described those calling for his removal from office as children insisted that he would remain in office because he has been duly elected while Governor Wike who reacted to Ayu’s comment called him an ingrate who was brought to from the gutters to become PDP national Chairman.

Recall that wike's camp has been calling for Ayu’s resignation, following the emergence of Atiku as the presidential candidate, who is also from the North.

Meanwhile, a source at Atiku’s meeting with the governorship candidates disclosed that the former vice president assured them that there is no cause for alarm in the party, that things are on course to win the 2023 elections.
