Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt fixes 30th of September for ruling on applications in a suit filed APC by PDP

The Federal High Court in Port Harcourt has fixed 30th of September for ruling on applications in a suit filed by the People’s Democratic Party the PDP in Rivers State against National Assembly candidates of the State All Progressives Congress, APC.

The Presiding judge, Justice Stephen Daylop-Pam, fixed the date for a definite hearing on motion on joinder, recusal and all other pending applications.

There are reports that the judge adjourned the matter due to a plea from counsel to the APC, Tuduru Ede that some motions had not been served.

Ede, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, also said replies had not been served to some parties with the new motion on joinder which the counsel informed the court.

The presiding judge also ordered that in the rules of court in a matter of urgency, adjournment should not be granted twice adding that the applications were geared towards causing unnecessary adjournment, and insisted on hearing the matter.

But counsel to 4th defendants, Wobodo reminded the court of pending motions on recusal while counsel to the 3rd defendant, Emenike Ebete said their motion was not ripe for hearing and it was necessary that the judge grants their adjournment.
