Governor Nyesom Wike signs three bills into law

Rivers state governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike had blamed the lingering ASUU strike on lack of leaders who are committed to the welfare of the people.

The Governor said this after assenting to the three bills presented to him by the Rivers State House Of Assembly, in government house Port Harcourt.

He said although the demand of ASUU is outrageous but could be negotiated if the government is prioritizing the welfare of its citizens, noting that the strike is taking a negative toll on the idle youths.

On the newly signed laws, governor Wike said with the laws women can now stand for their right, adding that the state is focused on protecting the lives of the people.

In his response, the speaker Ikunyi -Awaji Ibani commended the Governor for the swift response, adding that the three bills are people-focused bills.

The three bills signed into law included women equal right on sharing of their father's property, right to gun wounds treatment, and the pension reform amendment law.
