IPOB can not threaten President Buhari he is the commander in chief and can visit any state

The proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) declared Tuesday as sit at home in South East ahead of President Buhari visit to Owerri, Imo State.

The Imo State Government on Saturday issued a statement dismissing the threat by the Indigenous People of Biafra to shut down the entire South-East region.

In reaction to the sit at home order, the state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Declan Emelumba, said at a press conference that IPOB is not in a position to threaten the President of Nigeria.

"Nobody can threaten Buhari. He is the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Imo is one of the states he governs and he is free to visit it.

"Security is in top gear and I can assure you that his visit will be successful.

President Buhari has been scheduled to visit the state to inaugurate a three signature projects executed by the Governor Hope Uzodimma administration which are first phase of the Owerri-Okigwe Road, the Owerri-Orlu Road and the rebuilt state House of Assembly complex.
