Lagos state commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development resigns after multiple building collapses in the state

The rate of building collapse in Lagos state may be scaring residence of the state as another building of 7 storeys collapse again in Lekki on Sunday September 4, 2022.

As at Monday morning, the death toll from the seven-story building has risen to three. This is becoming a great concern and the state government need to take measures to avoid these ugly trend.

The building which was under construction, collapsed in the early hours of Sunday, September 4, leaving six persons trapped. The rescue operation led to the recovery of two bodies. 

In the early hours of today, September 5, another body was recovered from the rubbles.

The building was situated at  Oba Idowu Oniru street, lekki Lagos state, Nigeria.

Meam while the State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Idris Salako has resigned.
Gbenga Omotoso, the Commissioner for Information made the announcement in a statement on Monday.
Omotoso said Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has accepted the resignation. Salako leaving the position after multiple building collapses in Nigeria’s commercial hub in the last few years.
