Many travellers left stranded for hours in traffic as Flood partly washes off bridge connecting Nasarawa to northeast and southeast states

Heavy flood has washed off part of the bridge in Akwanga town. The bridge connects Nasarawa State, Plateau state and others in the northern and southern parts of the country.

The collapse was due to several hours of a torrential downpour with heavy flooding on Wednesday.

The collapsed bridge is being used by motorists coming from Kaduna state, Plateau, Bauchi, Gombe and some others to heading to Abuja, the federal capital territory.

Many travellers were left stranded for hours in traffic before some officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) including the Nigeria Police created a diversion to allow the free flow of traffic.
