Police have arrested two people said to have led a crowd to nearly beat to death a young woman, Ruth Tamuno, accused of stealing an iPhone in Aggrey Estate Waterfront, Port Harcourt.
A yet-to-be-identified substance was said to have been inserted into her. Police spokesperson in the state, Grace Iringe-Koko, gave the names of the suspects as Samuel Matthew and Emmanuel Iweruma.
SP Iringe-Koko said in a statement that investigations are on to arrest others who fled the scene. She said the Police Commissioner in the state, Effiong Okon, urged citizens to always be law-abiding and help the Police in the fight against criminality in the State rather than take laws into their hands.
