Nigeria Needs Creative Minds of Youths say Governor Siminalayi Fubara

Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara has tasked Nigerian youths to be patriotic, focused and determined to excel in their contributions to nation-building.

Governor Fubara gave the challenge on Tuesday during the closing ceremony of the 2023 Batch B Stream 1 Orientation Course for Corps members deployed to Rivers State at the NYSC permanent orientation camp in Nonwa-Gbam of Tai LGA, Rivers State.

The Governor, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government and Chairman, Rivers State NYSC Governing Board, Dr. Tammy Wenike Danagogo, stirred the Corp members to brace up for the remaining programmes of the service year by being resolute to contribute their skills and expertise in their host communities.

According to him, “I am impressed and I am hopeful that you will enter the society with the brightness I see in you today. Nigeria needs the fresh, dynamic and creativity I think you have to offer.

"As you are set to move to your host communities shortly for your primary assignment, let me stress the need for you to play your roles well in line with your rules of engagement by the NYSC Management.

"I charge you to integrate very well in your host communities by learning their language and culture. Devote your time to identify their felt needs and initiate personal: and group Community Development Service (CDS) projects that will help them to overcome such needs and uplift their living standard.

"I also encourage you to key into the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme of the NYSC, which is designed to equip you for self-employment and wealth creation. This is because, the global economy now gravitates on skills rather paper qualifications.

"Be rest assured of the support of my administration towards your welfare and security. In this respect, the State Government will leave no stone unturned to continually upgrade the infrastructure and other incentives that will make Rivers State NYSC the number one amongst other NYSC formations in Nigeria."

Governor Fubara further cautioned the corps members to always do right and avoid acts that will tarnish the good image and brand name of the NYSC Scheme, in consideration that the Scheme has helped in strengthening the cord of national unity and integration of Nigerians.

In addition, he delivered panegyric on the good people of Nonwa Gbam communities for their high level of support to the camp community, especially, by ensuring the existence of peace and harmony. Keep it up. On this note, I hereby declare the 2023 Batch B Stream 1 Orientation Course for Corps Members deployed to Rivers State closed to the glory of God.

The State Coordinator of NYSC, Mr George Mfongang, thanked Governor Fubara for passionate love and immediate positive impacts in the lives of Corps members and the NYSC scheme in the State since his assumption of office.

He urged corp members to engage themselves with productive ventures and avoid acts capable of putting them in harm's way.

" I implore corps members to sustain the tempo of the high level of discipline they exhibited in camp in their host communities and help the good people of Rivers State".
